John Dolan serves as Managing Member of Dolan Finance, LLC, which was formed in 2015, and as general partner for Dolan Real Estate Finance, LP. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Board and Audit Committee Chair of Atlantic Coast Financial Corp. (NASD: ACFC), which has been involved in turnaround since late 2013. (Atlantic Coast Financial Corp. is a Jacksonville, Florida based bank holding company and the parent company of Atlantic Coast Bank.)
A strategic leader, Dolan led an NYSE-listed banking company through transition during the “Great Recession.” As CEO of First Commonwealth Financial Corporation (NYSE:FCF), he transformed the company's strategy from growth through acquisitions to organic growth, restructured the executive team to ensure success, and navigated the company to clean up credit issues. Dolan led First Commonwealth to maintain a strong capital position throughout the recession period without accepting TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) or CPP (Capital Purchase Program) funds, and decisively raised common equity capital in uncertain markets.
He also served First Commonwealth as Chief Financial Officer for over twenty years, during which time he was responsible for financial accounting and reporting, regulatory and management reporting, budgeting, tax planning and investor relations. The company completed thirteen bank acquisitions and three non-bank acquisitions during his tenure as CFO. Additionally, throughout his time with First Commonwealth, Dolan was active in industry groups such as the Financial Services Roundtable, Pennsylvania Bankers Association and the American Bankers Association. His involvement included roles as a board member and committee chair as well as committee member.
Prior to joining First Commonwealth and its predecessor, National Bank of the Commonwealth, Dolan was staff accountant at Barnes, Saly and Company, Certified Public Accountants, a regional firm where he gained experience auditing banks, coal companies, retail organizations and not-for-profit organizations.
Reflecting his passion for public service and building strong communities, Dolan has been quite active in economic development and assisting early stage companies in their development stages. He served on several not-for-profit boards and is currently on the Board for the West Liberty University Foundation, Inc. and the Board of Trustees for the Catholic Institute of Greensburg (PA).
Dolan earned his B.S. in Business Administration from West Liberty University in West Virginia.
